A Google a Day

What if there were a trivia game that actually allowed and encouraged you to use Google?  A Google a Day is just that.  Each day a new question is posted.  Once the answer for the day is revealed it also provides search tips for finding that answer.  This could be a great way to generate warm-up or bellringer questions and teach search techniques at the same time!

Fuel the Brain

Looking for some educational games?  Fuel the Brain has a great selection of math related interactive online games.  These are excellent for practicing many elementary level math skills!

Free Rice

This website has become well known for some time now but it is one I still love to revisit!  Free Rice is a vocabulary game that instinctively adjusts its difficulty level based on how well you are answering each question.  Don't forget that by playing the game you are also donating 10 grains of rice with each correct answer.  It offers a great challenge to almost any user and offers a chance to facilitate conversations about social awareness.  Win Win!

March 2 is the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss.  Seussville is a website full of information about the author and his books.  You can also find videos, educational games and even special pages for parents and teachers.  Have fun remembering one of our culture's most beloved authors!

Vocab Genii

Vocab Genii is a great vocabulary activity that offers an excellent challenge and allows you to track and share your progress with other people.  Both your overall score (based on the number of words you correctly identified) and your word strength (based on the difficulty of the words) are judged.

I would not recommend this site for anyone needing an extra challenge, and the difficulty level can become pretty significant.
